Josef Dornig Junior was born in 1904 in Brooklyn, in the city of New York. When he was six years old his family returned to Kočevje, where his father bought an inn. Love for photography was in the family, his father Josef was an amateur photographer after all. Because of this Josef Junior, despite being a musician by education, decided for the profession of photography. At the address Gottschee 181 (12 Cankar St) he had a photographic studio. He was a recognized, very advanced photographer, who developed special retouching techniques. In the mid twenties of the previous century he published his photographs in the Gottscheer Kalender. The postcard of Koprivnik was published in 1928. During WWII many of his photographs were lost. He died in Graz, Austria, in 1983. BACK TO COLLECTION
